GIS-Based Landslide Susceptibility Mapping for Land Use Planning and Risk Assessment

Landslide susceptibility mapping is essential for a suitable land use managing and risk assessment. In this work GIS-based approach has been proposed to map landslide in the Portofino promontory, Mediterranean area that periodically hit by intense rain events induce often shallow landslides. Based on over 110 years landslides inventory experts’ judgements, semi-quantitative analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method applied assess role of nine conditioning factors, which include both natural anthropogenic elements. A separated subset data used validate map. Our findings reveal areas where possible future may occur are larger than those identified actual official adopted management. The way new compiled seems more oriented towards scenario, rather weighting with higher importance existing as current model. paper provides useful decision support tool implement mitigation strategies better apply planning. Allowing modify factors order local features, methodology be different conditions or geographical context featured rainfall induced risk.
